The
Mendocino
County AIDS /
Viral Hepatitis Network
(MCAVHN)
is a grassroots 501C3 non-profit organization.
Our mission is to stop the transmission of HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C and care
for those living with, affected by or at risk by reducing harmful effects
and promoting healthy lifestyles.
MCAVHN provides care coordination, client advocacy, assistance
with housing, food, and transportation. We also
offer a drop-in center where community members can access health
resource information.
MCAVHN's vision is to be dynamic partners in creating a community that is...
|
• Better Informed
• Empowered
• Compassionate
• Healthier |
In 1998, MCAVHN began health
prevention and education through outreach. Community
Health Outreach Workers (CHOWs)
travel throughout the county to distribute educational materials, condoms,
and other harm reduction supplies, including exchanging used syringes
for clean ones.
CHOWs
also provide free and anonymous HIV and Hepatitis C testing. MCAVHN
is dedicated to stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C (HCV) and other
diseases.
