The
Mendocino
County AIDS
Volunteer Network
(MCAVN)
is a grassroots non-profit organization with offices in Ukiah and Fort
Bragg.
MCAVN's mission is to stop the transmission of HIV/HCV and care
for those living with, affected by or at risk by reducing harmful effects
and promoting healthy lifestyles.
MCAVN provides care coordination, client advocacy, assistance
with housing, food, and transportation. We also
offers a drop-in center where community members can access health
resource information.
MCAVN's vision:
To be dynamic partners in creating a community that is...
|
• Better Informed
• Empowered
• Compassionate
• Healthier |
In 1998, MCAVN began health
prevention and education through outreach. Community
Health Outreach Workers (CHOWs)
travel throughout the county to distribute educational materials, condoms,
and other harm reduction supplies, including exchanging used syringes
for clean ones.
CHOWs
also provide free and anonymous HIV and Hepatitis C testing. MCAVN
is dedicated to stopping the spread of HIV, Hepatitis C (HCV) and other
diseases.
