The overall goal of the Hepatitis C (HCV) Care Initiative is to reduce the transmission of HCV by providing intensive case management to HCV+ persons and assisting them in accessing the medical treatment needed.

MCAVN provides:    

HCV Case Management which includes identification of barriers to treatment, benefits counseling, nutritional counseling, and referrals to medical treatment and other services; the HCV Care Manager works with HCV treatment providers to establish patient inclusion parameters, compliance requirements, and data collection structures for treatment.

Nutritional supplements, healthy food, herbs, and gas and bus vouchers for transportation to the medical and other services.

Peer support groups lead by peer facilitators in various Mendocino County locations.

HCV Educational Forums on topics of interest to persons enrolled in the program. Harm Reduction Education training for clinic staff and physicians in private practice provided by experts in the field of HCV treatment on topics including treatment for past and active injectors, integrating alternative modalities with traditional treatment, and additional topics based on the needs and interests of the physicians. 

HCV Resource Manual on prevention and nutrition information as well as contact information for all medical and psychosocial support opportunities in and around Mendocino County.
